Covid-19 Lockdown Diaries: Taking Medication
Most of us are all holed up at home for the Covid-19 lockdown. I thought that I should really document my mental health at this point. People like us are more prone to panic and have anxiety attacks than most.
Stopping Anti-Depressants Before Covid-19 Lockdown
February 29 was the day of my last half pill. I had been taking anti-depressants for 9 months straight now and on the last month, I reduced it to half.
Thinking of the date as significant, I no longer bought more pills and decided to stop at half.
That was a bad idea because I experienced withdrawal symptoms. It was really bad that after a week, I decide to take escitalopram oxalate once again. Still at half a pill.
Day 15 of the Home Quarantine
For the sake of the senior citizens and our children at home, we have declared home quarantine since March 14. It is our way contributing to the society in order to help stop the spread of Covid-19. I also feel that if we keep on doing this, many people will follow and the pandemic will stop shortly.
Otherwise, the virus will keep spreading and the Covid-19 lockdown will have to continue longer.
Working at Home During Covid-19 Lockdown
Since I am working at home, not much has changed with our family’s routine. Our grocery errands are not really frequent, so we pretty much stay at home.
The only difference is that, there are no much social gatherings and events to attend. No more birthday parties and weddings. We see people on Facebook celebrating their birthdays with just their immediate family.
So other than that, the Covid-19 lockdown is not really affecting our family’s way of life.
The Anxiety About Other People
What I am anxious about are the people who do not obey the laws and the orders of our government officials. They unnecessarily expose themselves to the virus by going out and partying, despite the order of a home quarantine.
Now, the government has declared the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for two weeks and there will be stricter measures. People who go out just because they are bored is not an excuse.
For us, that would be a whole month of home quarantine. And since I am a germophobe, I think we will continue home quarantine for at least until the end of May.
I mean, if it is not really necessary, why should we go out, right? Except for grocery runs, we are staying at home.
Medication is Important
I just want to encourage everyone who has been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, please don’t skip on your medication. It is important that we keep our heads on straight during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Two of my friends and I, who are all under medication, have agreed to this. We could not imagine our anxiety attacks if we are not chemically-balanced.
Thankfully, our local drugstores still have stock of our medication. I just bought mine that could last for another 40 days.

True! I can’t imagine how I would be able to cope with all that’s happening now if I were not on anxiety meds. Sometimes I would still feel anxious after reading posts on social media about the lockdowns of most cities and provinces, how some people still ignore quarantine guidelines, and the incompetence of some government officials.😩
I know right? Some people can still be very dismissive about the covid-19, taking the lockdown for granted. And when they get sick, they would call the government. Toink!
OMG glad that pharmacies are still open and glad you got your medication. This is really causing a lot of people to feel anxious. I do hope this will end the time we all expected and were told it will be. We can’t afford for this to be any longer than it is now
Staying out of social media nowadays is a must to lessen stress. Better to just keep updated with just the facts and reliable sources and leave the rest out of our sphere. Times are really hard for those who have medications, especially those who have problems with mental health, so it’s better to stock up since we don’t when this whole thing will be over.
Same here I am really anxious about the current situation. And I am really freaking out every time that other people aside from my family members is touching my hands right now. This is really scary. And I am praying for Covid-19 to end soon.
