Stop Sharing Suicide Videos!
The taking of one’s life is no joke. Mental health should not be taken lightly. Please exercise caution and consider what you are doing. Stop sharing those suicide videos! You do not know who will get to watch them eventually.
Effects of Sharing Suicide Videos
Nowadays, people share all kinds of things on social media. If something is novel and controversial, most people find it interesting. Sometimes amusing.
It is no wonder that scandals, especially that of celebs, are shared without empathy. But suicide videos are different. These can be those FB live feeds, a recording, or even instructional guides. They are a level all their own. Moreover, they should not be shared or lumped among those that should be made viral.
You see, people with mental health problems, like those with depression, see life differently. They might be okay when they are taking antidepressants, but what if they are in the midst of a breakdown? A simple suggestion like than from suicide videos can be disastrous!
Human Dignity
Additionally, let us please give some dignity to human life. We even shun the killing of a dog, why would we relish watching a video of someone taking his or her own life? Where is the dignity in that?
Even for educational purposes, these kinds of videos should not be shared indiscriminately.
Let us learn to respect other people, whether they are alive or when they choose to stop living. Instead, let us encourage one another to live and do good to other people. We all need some ounce of kindness, especially those who are having mental and emotional problems.
Protect Our Children
Furthermore, let us protect the children and teens. Oftentimes, our kids are left to their devices. The tablets and mobile phones have become indispensable babysitters in a world where both mom and dad are working. And this is so wrong because we don’t know what the kids can be up to.
I have learned that even Youtube Kids is not entirely safe. One pediatrician laments that suicide tips are being inserted in videos that are supposed to be for kids. What horror!
The Ideas the Mind Gets
Our brains can come up with so many good ideas. But they are also capable of thinking bad things. So instead of these stuff, let’s spread good cheer, helpful information, and insightful videos.
Please. I am appealing to your human decency. Let’s all put a stop to the sharing of suicide videos. Nothing good will come out of it for yourself and for others.
Note: If you are having these dark thoughts or episodes in your life, do not hesitate to seek help. Visit a psychiatrist for medication and psychotherapy. They can greatly help you to turn your life around.
